Psalm 146-150

Here's how the study works: Read the chapters mentioned in the heading during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for several chapters creates the opportunity to revisit them and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people's insights.

146:5 Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God.

God wants us to be happy, and the way to be happy is to trust God to be our help and our hope.

147:13 He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you.

God strengthens, more often than delivers, and in so doing we are blessed. Blessed because we are strengthen.

Susan Barnes said...

148:14 And he has raised up for his people a horn, the praise of all his faithful servants, of Israel, the people close to his heart.

148:14 he’s built a monument—his very own people! MSG

God wants to have a people who he can show off to the world. We are his monument. A people who live in a trusting relationship, a people he can shower blessing upon.

Susan Barnes said...

149:6 May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands,

Praise for God in people’s mouths becomes a weapon against the enemy.

Susan Barnes said...

150:2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.

Praise him for what he does – acts of power.
Praise him for who he is – surpassing greatness.
