Judges 21

Here's how the study works: Read the chapter mentioned in the heading during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for several chapters creates the opportunity to revisit them and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people's insights.

21:1 The men of Israel had taken an oath at Mizpah: “Not one of us will give his daughter in marriage to a Benjamite.”

Why take an oath? Trying to prove their commitment perhaps? Then they insist on keeping through murder and kidnapping. When we rigidly enforce rules we end up in further away from God's purposes than if we act with grace and compassion
