Luke 21

Here's how the study works: Read the chapter mentioned in the heading several times during the week and share any words, thoughts, verses that stood out to you. Having a week for a chapter creates the opportunity to reread it several times and make additional comments as you feel inclined as well as make comments on other people's insights.

v.14 But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves.

We need to make up our minds not worry. It is a decision we can make.

v.15 For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.

God is able to provide us with words and wisdom when we need it. So there is no reason to worry.

v.26,28 People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken…When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

While others are fainting from terror, God’s people are to stand and lift up our heads because we are secure and are trusting in God.

v.4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.

The issue is not how much we give away but how much we keep.

Our human perspective is often distorted by the size of the gift rather than the sacrifice that went into it.
